We are sitting with overseer Jimmy Washington. Welcome to the show, sir. Hey, pleasure to be here. Pleasure to be here. This is good, man. Listen, it's been a minute because we met when we met, you actually came to encourage the brothers at my church. Yes, yes. Me and uh some of my junior kingsmen. Yes, yes. That was really cool, man. Um, and I gotta say, man, you guys, you and your wife have really powered up on doing some major stuff in Naples. It's beautiful.

Yes, um, we don't this was not planned. Okay, you know, uh we we just wanted we thought we were just getting married and you know, just be like two married couples getting married. Just some regular people. Yeah, just regular. Yeah, yeah.

We do nothing regular. You know, I would say that out my one of my live I was doing this morning. I was saying, you know, sometimes certain people just don't do nothing regular. Extraordinary. Extraordinary. So, you know, before we tap into the show, uh overseer Jimmy, just kind of tell the listeners a little bit of who you are, where you where you're from, where you grew up.

Okay. I was born in Hollywood, Florida. Okay. And then I guess around four or five years old, my mom moved to the little town called Amakley.

Oh, yeah. Okay.

I went to school there in a little farm town, you know. Uh nowhere to go, nothing to do. Right. And just watch, you know, that lifestyle for, you know, till I graduated out of high school. You might wanted to turn it all the way down. Man, she wanted to keep me out of trouble, out of the city, yeah, because it was back then it was pretty rough in Miami and Fort Lauderdale area, Broward and Dade County. So she wanted to get, you know, get us out of the city, city life in. But a mockly, I'm thinking that's the last place, you know, anybody want to be. You're in the boons. You're in the boons of the boons. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. So I went in the military after high school, and and uh then I once I got out of the military, I came back to Imokley. Okay, I don't know how that managed to happen. Yeah. And then um, I guess I, you know, started getting out and meeting people. And I met my wife, you know, um, in Naples. Okay. And uh in less than a year, we was married and on our way.

Come on. Come on. It's a beautiful thing. So, you know, one of the things we want to do today on the show, because, you know, a lot of people been, they've been seeing a lot of things coming out lately that's some would say it's mocking the church. Some would say it's reality because, you know, behind closed doors, these people are not really seeing what is really going on with a lot of the people in the church. And so, you know, and this is one of the big reasons for gospel unfiltered, you know, where we have the leaders themselves come and unpack, unpack for you guys and just kind of help you guys understand who they are and what that looked like, the life, in the life of the ministry. Like when you when you got into ministry, did you know you were gonna get into ministry?

No, uh, that was not part of my plan. No, okay.

I hear you, I hear you. But God pulled you in.

But God, he pulled me in, and it had to be nobody but God, the way that I came into ministry. Right, right. Uh very unique ish. Yeah. You know, not through a church, right? Not at the altar. Okay. Not, you know, with a pastor standing over me, praying over me.

None of that. None of that.

Wow. Wow. God just kind of pull you in.

Like, you're gonna come.

Yeah.

Or else you, I'm gonna just release you and let you. Just let whatever happened to you happen to you. Yeah, and I'm gonna show you what you're gonna kind of, you know, be dealing with if you don't come with me.

So, so the choice is yours.

Yeah, yeah. Well, you listened.

Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I thank God that I that I was listening. That, you know, I mean, how could I not? There was so much, you know, when a lot of chaos is going on. Right, right. You know, you pay attention to everything that's going on. And I was just paying attention to the chaos and and the voices at the same time.

Yeah, yeah.

And uh, I made my decision. Right. I think I want to be, you know, I think I want peace, comfort, we don't want chaos, we happiness, joy. Yeah, there you go. All of that. I made my mind up right then, and then it's up to us to uh make our mind up. And I like to add on to that, when you make your mind up, do it for real, for real.

Yes, you gotta do it for real. As you say that, we we jump over into this part of it where individuals want to understand what does it mean to live gospel outside of the church building?

To it's just like how a person clothed themselves.

Yeah, yeah.

When you, if you live in the gospel for real, for real, you're gonna clothe yourself in what you learn on Sunday, yeah, and you're gonna take it through the whole week. Ooh, the whole week. So you're gonna be clothed in the gospel for real outside. You're not gonna, it ain't nothing you got to try to do.

Right, right.

Okay, right. Because when I came to Christ, I didn't try to do anything but just try to understand, yeah, you know, how does this work? And and he did the rest.

Yeah. You know, for individuals that would want to know, you know, what does what does your fate look like when it's tested during difficult seasons?

It now it now that I have been in uh in the walk of with Christ for uh a little while, yeah, it's much better.

You know, like when all chaos breaks loose, yeah, you know, I can start I can start praying. Okay. Before, in the beginning, it was retaliation. Ooh. It was retaliation. I'm just I want to keep it real. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We keep it in the book. Unfiltered. It was retaliation. You say something to me and I don't like it, then you know, hey, you responded.

I responded. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, I like that. I like that. Because, you know, a lot of people feel like, you know, once you find God, like, you know, you're you're you're transformed fully. Yes. Yeah, but it don't work like that because you gotta step into the word and stay in the word.

That's right. You gotta do your part. You know, we do have a part to do to stay rooted and grounded in in our newness. Yeah. You know, if we're gonna proclaim that we're we're new in Christ, it's gonna manifest itself. Oh, definitely. Are you new when that test comes?

Right, right. And this, you know, I'm sure a lot of people definitely would would want to ask this question. What's the difference between appearing religious and living transform life?

SPEAKER_00 10:03

Well, the way I see religious is like a religious is like uh an outward appearance.

SPEAKER_01 10:14

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 10:15

And transform is an inner appearance.

SPEAKER_01 10:21

Where you're walking in Christ.

SPEAKER_00 10:22

Yeah, where you're working, the changes in the inside, not on the outside. Right, right. So the change that's on the inside is going to manifest itself on the outside. So that's the difference between religious and transform in the newness.

SPEAKER_01 10:36

Right. You know, a lot of people they feel like because of what they're doing in the world, they're being judged by the people in the church and the pastor. What would you say to that?

SPEAKER_00 10:51

Well, I will be more receptive to their feelings and and pray that they give me an opportunity to uh show and prove to them the truth.

SPEAKER_01 11:06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 11:06

Yeah. The truth. And the truth is not what the world is doing. The world has is it is separated from the truth. Yes.

SPEAKER_01 11:15

So and that, man, listen, and that is so true. Because I there's so much people that don't necessarily know what the truth is, and then how do they how do they get the truth? Because information is so much out there, but a lot of it is not necessarily the truth. It's fabricated.

SPEAKER_00 11:32

Right, right. So how would they how would they get the truth? Well, I think it's it's it's all it will come from him, the touch, the the touch from heaven to to your heart, because this is a heart thing.

Right.

SPEAKER_00 11:49

You know, so if your heart is not in receive mode, if you you're in tunnels, you ain't receiving, yeah, there's nothing nobody can say. This is true. You know, so I think it starts with the with the heart.

SPEAKER_01 12:03

Yes, yes. And it, you know, it sounds like you're telling them to, it it doesn't really matter what people is saying or telling you. Exactly. Yeah.

If you got your heart right, yeah. And just like like I said earlier, you know, when once I, you know, surrendered, yeah, you know, and I did it for real, for real.

Yeah.

And, you know, I didn't want to go back to, you know, how sometimes, you know, a lot of people they'll come to church, they'll, you know, get get their saved, they do all of this stuff, and then they'll go back to doing what they were doing before. Yeah. And by, and it's what's in their heart.

Yeah.

You know, yeah. And by me looking at that, I'm like, man, I don't, I I judge my life on what I don't want to do.

Right.

SPEAKER_00 12:52

You know, I'm like, I don't, I don't want to be like him. I don't want to be like like that one. I don't want to be, I don't want to do that.

SPEAKER_01 12:58

Yeah.

You know, when I was in in school, got graduated out of high school, yeah, and it was time for me to go to the military. And the reason I went to the military because I don't have any too many other choices.

Right.

But I did not want to remain in the little farm town where I'm seeing where everybody is drinking, smoking, and doing all of these sinful things, you know. And so I I made my mind up. I'm like, that ain't what I want. I want to do. I need to go somewhere and get a start, a new start, new mindset.

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 13:31

You know, and that's what the military helped me with. Yes. They, well, I'm like, yeah. So we're gonna stop right now.

SPEAKER_01 13:40

I gotta tell you because what what you're speaking on goes right into our first scripture, which is James 1.22. But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. This is probably the best unkerverse for what we're looking like right now with what's happening. Yes.

Be ye doers of the word. Yeah, yeah. That is, I will say that is facts.

Yeah, yeah.

Okay. They was like, you want to measure that? Right. I will say facts.

Yeah, yeah.

Because there is uh rewards for you being a doer, not just a hearer.

Right, right, right.

SPEAKER_00 14:24

You ain't you if you just just a hearer and you're not a doer, yeah, you're not gonna get any rewards. You're gonna be confused, you know. You're gonna keep, you know, repeating the same thing over and over. Right. You know, so like I said, for me, yeah, I made my mind up, right, you know, not knowing, you know, how to walk this Christian life, right? You know, I'm gonna do what the word said, and I'm gonna follow the word.

And I'm gonna be true to it because that's that is me. That's part of my identity. Not just not just hearing it. Not just hearing it. And I don't, you know, people could people always talking, they're still talking in the pulpit, in the in the pew, everywhere. Yeah, but what you're gonna believe. Right, right, right.

And it that is so dope that you just said that, what you're gonna believe, because when with that we dive right into Matthew 5, 16, where it said, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works.

Yes. And that's what I allow my walk with Christ, my yes to Christ, look like when I got it, when I came, uh, when I started my ministry. Started my ministry, I didn't know, right? I was at a crossroad.

Right.

Did not know what was going on. I just surrendered to God, you know. Like, I hey, I don't want to live this other sinful life no more, you know. And so I all I want to do is just, you know, just be true. I want to be able to know who I am. Yes. I was I was having identity crisis.

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_00 16:06

So, but when God called me, then I did hear his voice, and I was able to uh say, okay, I'm gonna follow, follow God as long as I can until if he let me down, then I'm going back, though, I'm going back to where I came from. Yeah, it's but and he never let me down. No, no, yeah. It's it's ever since, you know, things have been going up. Ministry, you know, I had to learn what a ministry is. Yes. You know, I didn't know what a ministry is, I wouldn't wasn't living that lifestyle to know what a ministry is.

Yeah.

And, you know, but when we got into the ministry, then God had this already orchestrated where he already got kids, troubled kids, and things that I went through when I was young as a kid.

That now he's gonna teach me ministry. Yeah, yeah. So I was taught ministry hands-on. Come on. I didn't go to school for, I didn't have nobody to tell me what was ministry, because a lot of people still have it confused today what ministry is.

Right, right. This is true.

So I was taught, me and my wife both was taught by God what ministry is.

Amazing. We do we with that is like you go right into Colossians 3 23 where it said, and whatsoever ye do, do it orderly, has to the Lord. Ooh. And I know this is touching on the integrity, the work ethic, you know, as you guys are being instructed by God and what this ministry is gonna look like. I'm sure you guys understand, okay, how do we apply ourselves and in an ethical way where people are gonna be like, you know what? We wanna be around them.

Yeah. We are we committed, our commitment to Christ, not to man, was uh one of our first things. We're gonna be committed to Christ because I am not the type of person to play with that word, right, with that word, with the word of God. I'm not the type of person that do that.

If I'm gonna be into that, I'm gonna be into it. If I'm not, I'm gonna stay away from it.

So I don't wanna be, you know, like they say, on this side of the fence and that side of the fence at the same time.

Right, right.

So I have a narrow, my mind is narrow.

Yes, yes.

You know, just like you're zoomed in. I'm zoomed in. Yeah, yeah. I love that. That that's that's where I'm at. And you know, I I it doesn't matter anything that's not in that line of my line of fire. Now looking in the periphery. I can't I can't worry about, you know, uh focus on other people's stuff. No. You know, that's not my job.

Right, right, right, right. This is true. Yeah, this is true. I love that. I you know, and I think if more people can understand that, less conflicts. Yes. Because a lot of times you hear conflict and it's like, oh, because this person was in this person's business or whatever that was looking like.

It's it's always people, people problems.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

People have most of our problem issues is is with people.

So we need to learn about people problems and how you're gonna deal with people problems. When people come, like in our ministry, if if a person comes and they have a problem, I need to be equipped and need some wisdom on how to to deal with them or to help them, because God has given me uh very, I was, you know, anointed discernment about some things, you know. Yeah. And um, and I I love people. I love people.

I love that. Proverbs 10 9 says, he that walk it uprightly. Walk it surely. That is beautiful.

Yeah. Yes.

Yes, walk it surely. Yes. Because you following the word. We just following the word. Yeah. Me and my wife, we just following the word. We're we're just uh we're not looking to the left, not looking to the right. Right. We just looking at the word and just go, just go, go be. Yeah, yeah. You know, I I like that. Just keep it, just keep it simple. Right. When you start making things complicated, yeah, that's when you adding stuff to what you think your own your understanding.

You know, when you start adding stuff, if we just keep it simple, because this is a this is a simple word. This is a simple, simple instruction. God knows that we can't, we can't even, but we don't know how to deal with all of this stuff.

Listen, what you're saying right there is speaking right into what 1 John 3.18 is saying. Let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth. In deed and in the truth. That's it. Mm-mm. Man. Let me ask you, man, because you know a lot of people when they come to the church and you know, you you get to the end of the you know, the service or the message, what is it about people being afraid to come to the pulpit? Or just to come to the altar?

They are in the in the uh midst of some things going on. Or even the, you know, last night was probably, you know, a little bit, you know, chaotic.

You know, they dealing with some things. Right. So they need for the they need that the the a solid word from the from the Lord. Yeah. Because the Lord is the one who breaks yokes, break chains.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.

Give them that push. Give them that push, and then they'll get up, yeah, you know, with tears in their eyes.

And humble as they they they ever been, oh yeah, you know, that that will push them. But if you in that pulpit and you, you know, you on this thing where you know you're not giving them a solid, right, you know, God anointed word, yeah, they're not gonna move. They're not even gonna lift their hands.

You know, they're not even gonna, you know, do anything. They'll sit there and leave out of there the same way they come. And that I don't I do not like that.

Come on, man. That's never good. That's never good. No. Because it just means like that stronghold that was on them when they came in, it still got them leaving.

That could be their last day, and we didn't, you know, we didn't let God be God in that sermon. Every sermon we have, we, you know, what we teach, you know, each other is and help each other with all our leaders, is we have to let God be God. We don't do anything up under our own strength because our own strength, it ain't got no anointing on it. No anointing at all. This is true.

This is very true. I I I like that, man. And I I think I would love to jump into this fruit of the spirit, which is Galatians 5, 22 to 23. The fruit of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And you were touching on a few of that when you were like warned off.

Yes, yes, yes. I love that. I love that verse. I love that. When when I first came to Christ, when I heard that the fruit of the spirit, that caught my attention.

Yeah.

I said, we're talking about fruit. And I like fruit. Right. You know, I like apple, oranges, bananas. I like fruit. So now it's talking about fruit of the spirit. Yeah. I was like, man, so I gotta learn that. And now I don't, I learned what fruit of the spirit is. And that is some real good stuff. That's the best fruit basket you could ever have. Love, joy, peace, happiness, long suffering. Yeah. And the list goes on and on and on. I mean, I love that. The fruit of the spirit. And we try to teach kids that. You try to when you try to teach people that, and they don't understand what it is because they still, it's it's a process that they're gonna have to go through so you can be able to understand what kind of fruit basket this is. But a lot of people they they don't know because they're worried about their stomach, they're hungry, they're thinking about other fruits. You know, you could be talking about spiritual things and a person's mind, they can be focused on worldly things at the same time.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, we and I know at some point we, you know, we got to unfold this, you know, and I don't know which episode you guys will get this, but helping people to understand, once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are given a spirit that helps you to deny the flesh. Yes. Because the flesh craves everything of the world every day. Yes. Every single day. Yes, yes. And when you hear, you know, Pastor Jimmy talk about the fruit of the spirit. That's the spirit. That's that that spirit. And I know a lot of people are watching and listening right now and be like, well, I didn't accept Jesus, so I don't have that spirit.

Well, you you it's there. It is there, you know. Because you ain't wanted. Yes, yes. You got to, you gotta take your foot up off, you know, don't don't put your foot on on the spirit. Right. You gotta let it release. That means you're gonna have to do some reading and some praying and some some seeking, and you're gonna have to find out what is the what is the uh fruit of the spirit. Right. You're gonna have to re know how to tap in into the spirit. Yes, you know, and that's gonna make the difference. Yeah. And once you can tap in and and you know when the spirit is at work, right, you know, then you you won't have those issues.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah. You know, definitely, definitely.

Uh, like this morning, you know, I woke up, you know, with like, man, I'm like, man, what is going on? I was I don't know real, I was at the time I didn't realize I was up under attack. Yeah, you know. I mean, my nose was just running this crazy, just like it was getting ready to run away. Yeah, you know, I'm like, man, what is going on? And my wife said, Take take this here, and take that there. Yeah. I said, I don't know, I ain't taking nothing. I'm going, I gotta go before the Lord. Yeah, you know, before I take anything, go to him first. And so I got up and I I I just went before the Lord and and I just knew all, you know, we're gonna be diving in, we're gonna be diving in this. So I I I just relied, I just put focus my mind on it and and start, and next thing you know, before morning time came, there was no more running nose, no nothing. You didn't I didn't bring any tissue with me, you know, it's like it's like, man, that happened in those that hour back there. But now you know you good. Now I'm good. Oh because all I right now I just have the desire just to be in the word of God. Oh, yeah. And to praise and worship him, and to be in the right spirit. And we're in the right spirit right now.

Yes, I know. Because I've been longing to see you since we've been talking, since you've got hey, listen guys, this is one of the pastor brothers here that was praying for me and praying with me as well when I was in the hospital, and you guys know I was there for 30 days in the ICU. A lot of people said, You can't scare us like that, Corona. Yeah. A lot of people were scared for me, man. So, but you know, God. But God. But God. But God, man.

Well, I can tell you also that let me see a few years ago when I had caught COVID.

Heavenly Father, for all the listeners out there today, for every soul, Father God, that's that hears the sound of my voice. Father, I pray, Father God, that you meet them right where they're at today. Father, I pray that you give them the desires of their heart, Father God, and and teach them, Father God, how to become obedient and trustworthy and how to obey your word and your will for our lives. Father, help them to understand that you are the Alpha and the Omega. Help them to understand that you are the King of Kings. Help them to understand that you are the first and the last. Father, I pray today, Father God, that there was something said today, Father God, that could be useful in their walk and their decision, Father God, on serving and following you, oh God. So, Father, I pray, Father God, today, Lord God, that if it's only one, Father God, that you get the glory out of that person. And I pray for everyone else, Father God, that you take the words that came out of our mouths today, Father God, and use it in your favor as a weapon, Father God, to help us to get through the days of our lives. And I'd like to say at this moment, and we just trust that it's not by our might nor by our power, but by the spirit that we will be able to see that we are overcomers. We can overcome whatever we need to overcome, but it's gonna have to be done in the spirit of Jesus Christ. God, I thank you and I love you so much for all that you do for us, even when we don't do right. Father God, I bless your holy name, Father God.
